This third edition of the textbook includes the second edition in its entirety plus the latest on environment science. The last few years have witnessed alarming signs of environmental destruction and associated consequences in the form of pollution, climate change, global warming, species extinction, and collapsing ecosystems. The disharmony in the environment is the result of reckless development, mindless consumption, and failure to acknowledge the interdependencies. To address environmental issues, there is a need for holistic and interdisciplinary perspectives to appreciate socio-cultural differences, understand economic and political realities and integrate all these to know more about our ways and means of interacting with nature. Sustainability forms the core of our solutions directed towards creating balance in nature and society.
